Quick commerce platform Blinkit has unveiled a 10-minute Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service in Gurugram, marking its entry into emergency medical care. Initially, five ambulances equipped with essential medical devices such as oxygen cylinders, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a stretcher, and other life-saving equipment will operate in the city. Each ambulance will have a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure prompt medical attention.
Announcing the initiative on X (formerly Twitter), Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa emphasized the company’s mission to address the challenges of quick and reliable ambulance services in Indian cities. While currently available only in Gurugram, the service will be accessible for booking via the Blinkit app as the company scales operations. Blinkit plans to expand the initiative to other major cities within the next two years.
The service is designed to prioritize affordability over profitability, aiming to solve a critical gap in emergency medical response. This launch follows Blinkit’s expansion into various quick-delivery services, including 10-minute deliveries of tech products like iPhones, gaming consoles, and even gold coins. The company also recently introduced new service areas and an EMI payment option for customer convenience.
