Women's T20 World Cup Trophy Set for Nine-Day Tour of New Zealand
After New Zealand's historic win in the Women's T20 World Cup in October, the team will take the trophy on a nine-day nationwide tour. The tour will begin on Saturday, with the squad making appearances in fan events across ten cities, including Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland.
New Zealand had just completed a three-match ODI series in India before heading back home to kick off the celebrations. The players and support staff will engage with fans at public events and visit schools and cricket clubs across the country.
NZC's marketing communications general manager, Stacey Geraghty, emphasized the significance of the World Cup win for women's cricket in New Zealand. "This is a watershed moment, and we're determined to make the most of it," she said, anticipating strong public support similar to the ICC World Test Championship Mace tour in 2021.
In addition to the trophy tour, the Women's T20 World Cup trophy will be displayed at all of New Zealand women's cricket team's home matches during the summer.
New Zealand triumphed in the final in Dubai after defeating South Africa, with Amelia Kerr leading the charge in their maiden T20 World Cup victory.
