Top Test Performers: Bumrah, Bavuma, Boland, and Babar Climb ICC Rankings

The ICC's latest rankings reflect remarkable performances from players in the recent Tests in Sydney and Cape Town, resulting in record-breaking milestones and career-best positions.

Scott Boland has entered the top ten in the ICC Test bowling rankings for the first time. With an exceptional haul of 21 wickets at an average of 13.19 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Boland's standout performance at the SCG—where he took 10 for 86 and secured the Player-of-the-Match award—helped Australia clinch the series 3-1. This effort propelled him 29 places to a joint-ninth position.

Jasprit Bumrah continues his dominance as the No. 1 Test bowler after an incredible showing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he topped the charts with 32 wickets at 13.06. Bumrah gained an additional rating point to reach 908, setting a new benchmark for Indian bowlers. Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada climbed to second and third, respectively, while Marco Jansen completed the top five. Josh Hazlewood slipped just outside the top three.

On the batting front, South Africa's prolific display in the second Test against Pakistan, where they scored 615 in the first innings, brought significant gains for their players. Temba Bavuma’s century (106) lifted him to a career-best No. 6. Ryan Rickelton, with a double-century (259), surged 48 places to 55th, while Kyle Verreynne’s 100 saw him rise to No. 24.

For Pakistan, Babar Azam moved closer to the top ten, advancing to No. 12 after scores of 58 and 81.

India’s Rishabh Pant returned to the top ten Test batters following contributions of 40 and 61 in the Sydney Test. He climbed three spots to No. 9, while Yashasvi Jaiswal held steady at No. 3, trailing only Joe Root (No. 1) and Harry Brook (No. 2).
