Having made his international debut at just 16 in 1989, he retired after an illustrious career spanning over two decades. With 200 Test matches and 463 ODIs to his name, he holds the record for most appearances and runs in both formats 15,921 in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs. He also played in India's first-ever T20I in 2006.
