Shaheen Afridi Reclaims No. 1 ODI Bowler Spot; Babar Azam Dominates Batting Rankings

Pakistan's star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC ODI bowling rankings, while Babar Azam extended his dominance as the top-ranked batter in the format. This marks a double victory for Pakistan, with both players sitting at the top of their respective categories.

Afridi's remarkable performance against Australia, where he took eight wickets at an average of 12.62, propelled him past Kuldeep Yadav, Rashid Khan, and Keshav Maharaj. Rashid now ranks second, with Maharaj and Kuldeep slipping to third and fourth, respectively. This is Afridi's second stint as the No. 1 ODI bowler, having briefly held the position during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Haris Rauf, Afridi's seam-bowling partner, rose 14 spots to 13th after an outstanding series against Australia, where he claimed 10 wickets and was named Player of the Series. Naseem Shah also climbed 14 places to a career-best 55th.

Babar Azam's consistent performances, with scores of 37, 15*, and 28* in the series, solidified his lead over India's trio of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli, who rank second, third, and fourth, respectively.

The Afghanistan-Bangladesh ODI series also brought significant movement among allrounders. Mohammad Nabi remains the top-ranked ODI allrounder, with Rashid Khan moving to third and Azmatullah Omarzai entering the top 10 at ninth. Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed to fourth after contributing three wickets and a knock of 66 in the third ODI.

T20I Rankings: Samson, Hasaranga, and Salt Shine

In T20Is, Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga surged to second place among bowlers after his six-wicket haul against New Zealand, trailing only England's Adil Rashid. Akeal Hosein's economical spells against England moved him to third, while India's Ravi Bishnoi rose to seventh.

For T20I batters, England's Phil Salt climbed to second, followed by Jos Buttler in sixth and Nicholas Pooran in 10th after stellar performances in the England-West Indies series.

From the ongoing India-South Africa T20I series, Sanju Samson's explosive 50-ball 107 saw him jump 27 places to 39th. South Africa's Reeza Hendricks and Tristan Stubbs also made gains, reaching 12th and 26th, respectively. The T20I batting rankings continue to be led by Travis Head, with Salt and Suryakumar Yadav completing the top three.
