PCB Chairman Confident India Will Participate in 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan

PCB Chief Optimistic About India’s Participation in Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is confident that India will participate in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, despite the historical absence of Indian teams due to political tensions. The tournament, scheduled to begin on February 19, will be hosted across three venues: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, with the final slated for March 9.

Naqvi emphasized that the tournament will proceed as planned and assured that the stadiums will be ready to host the event, with any remaining work set to be completed afterward. He expressed his optimism, saying, "I don’t see India canceling or postponing their visit to Pakistan."

He also addressed the question of India's participation, confirming that all teams, including India, would be present for the tournament. Additionally, Naqvi downplayed the idea of meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his visit to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s conclave in mid-October, as discussions regarding meetings were still undecided.

On the matter of Babar Azam's resignation as Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Naqvi stated that the selection committee would make a thoughtful decision on the next captain, emphasizing the importance of making a long-term choice. He also mentioned that there is no immediate plan to introduce new players to the team as the current squad is deemed satisfactory by the leadership.
