Kuldeep Yadav has been named in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) squad for their final Ranji Trophy league match against Madhya Pradesh (MP), set to take place at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore from Thursday.
The left-arm spinner is making a comeback after undergoing hernia surgery and has not played any competitive cricket since October 2024. His last appearance for India was in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru.
Although both UP and MP are out of the knockout race, this match will provide Kuldeep with much-needed game time and an opportunity to assess his fitness before India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting February 6. He has already been named in India’s squad for the series and is also part of the provisional 15 for the Champions Trophy.
Earlier this week, Kuldeep expressed gratitude to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff on social media for their role in his recovery.
Besides Kuldeep, several other Indian cricketers, including Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Riyan Parag, will feature in the final league round of the Ranji Trophy.
