IPL 2025 Retention: Mumbai Indians Keep Core Intact, Klaasen Retained for INR 23 Crore

IPL 2025 Retention List: MI Keep Core, Klaasen Retained for INR 23 Crore

As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, franchises have finalized their retained players, with Mumbai Indians keeping their top players and Sunrisers Hyderabad making Heinrich Klaasen the highest-paid retention at INR 23 crore.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have retained their big four: Jasprit Bumrah (INR 18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (INR 16.35 crore), Hardik Pandya (INR 16.35 crore), and Rohit Sharma (INR 16.30 crore), along with Tilak Varma (INR 8 crore). Bumrah has been MI's highest-paid retention for the first time. They have INR 45 crore left in their auction purse.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also made a splash with Klaasen's retention at INR 23 crore, alongside Pat Cummins (INR 18 crore), Abhishek Sharma (INR 14 crore), Travis Head (INR 14 crore), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (INR 6 crore). They retained three overseas players, the most by any team.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) kept their key players, including MS Dhoni (INR 4 crore) and Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 crore), while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained only three players, including Virat Kohli (INR 21 crore), with a large INR 83 crore purse remaining.

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made strategic retentions, but not without notable omissions. DC chose not to retain Rishabh Pant, which opens the door for a new captain in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, KKR kept Rinku Singh (INR 13 crore), but did not retain their captain Shreyas Iyer or Mitchell Starc.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) have focused on a strong batting core, retaining Sanju Samson (INR 18 crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (INR 18 crore), and others. Gujarat Titans (GT) kept key players like Rashid Khan (INR 18 crore) and Shubman Gill (INR 16.50 crore), but did not retain fast bowlers.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) retained Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 crore) but must find a new captain after not retaining KL Rahul. Punjab Kings (PBKS) kept just two uncapped players, Shashank Singh (INR 5.5 crore) and Prabhsimran Singh (INR 4 crore), leaving them with the largest purse for the auction.
