India has been selected to host the 2025 ISSF Junior World Cup, as announced by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Saturday. This will be the 11th edition of the Junior World Cup and the first time India will host the prestigious event.
The competition will feature events across all three shooting disciplines: rifle, pistol, and shotgun, with both Olympic and non-Olympic events included in the schedule. However, the specific dates and host city are yet to be confirmed.
NRAI secretary-general Sultan Singh shared that the ISSF has requested India to propose two possible time slots: one in September-October and the other from late October to early November. The NRAI will finalize these options after internal discussions and communicate them to the ISSF to allow for adequate preparation time for participating federations.
The ISSF Junior World Cup, established in 2016, is one of the premier annual shooting events for athletes under 21, alongside world championships. The 2025 edition will mark a historic milestone as it will be the first time India hosts the competition.
This will be India's third major ISSF event in just three years, following the senior ISSF World Cup held in Bhopal in 2023 and the 2024 World Cup Final in New Delhi. Over the past decade, India has hosted nine top-level ISSF events, including two continental championships, six World Cup competitions, and two World Cup Finals.
