India Drop Reddy; Kashyap, Bist, and Rawal Earn Maiden Call-Ups for West Indies Series

India has dropped fast bowler Arundhati Reddy from their white-ball squads for the upcoming West Indies series, paving the way for maiden call-ups to Nandini Kashyap and Raghvi Bist in T20Is, and Pratika Rawal and Tanuja Kanwar in ODIs.

Reddy, despite her impressive performance as India's joint-highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup with seven wickets in four games and a stellar 4-for-26 in the third ODI against Australia, has been excluded. Instead, she has been asked to participate in the ongoing domestic Senior Women's One-Day Trophy for Hyderabad.

Opener Shafali Verma remains out of both squads, continuing her absence from the ODIs since being dropped against Australia. D Hemalatha and Radha Yadav are also notable exclusions, with Hemalatha missing out on the T20Is and Radha omitted from the ODIs, despite her outstanding form against New Zealand earlier this year.

Injuries have sidelined Yastika Bhatia, Shreyanka Patil, and Priya Punia, while versatile players Priya Mishra, Uma Chetry, Saima Thakor, Minnu Mani, and Titas Sadhu have secured spots in both squads.

Nandini Kashyap earned her T20I call-up after topping Uttarakhand’s charts as the leading run-scorer in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy with 247 runs, including an unbeaten 117 against Pondicherry. Raghvi Bist impressed with consecutive half-centuries in India A's one-day series against Australia A and delivered a match-winning 71 in the Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy final.

Pratika Rawal rose to prominence in 2021 with an unbeaten 161 in the domestic one-day competition and continued her form as the second-highest run-scorer in the Under-23 One-Day Trophy this year. Left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwar, with previous experience in four T20Is, has also been included in the ODI squad.

The six-match series against the West Indies starts with three T20Is in Navi Mumbai from December 15, followed by three ODIs in Vadodara on December 22, 24, and 27.
