Hunt and Sangha Shine with Centuries for South Australia

Henry Hunt and Jason Sangha delivered standout performances on the opening day of South Australia's Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval, putting their team in a dominant position.

South Australia closed the day at an impressive 329 for 3, thanks to a remarkable 300-run partnership between Hunt (136* off 292 balls) and Sangha (151 off 257 balls).

Tasmania initially found success when opener Conor McInerney fell for eight to a brilliant reflex catch by Nivethan Radhakrishnan at short leg. However, what followed was a batting masterclass as Hunt and Sangha built a solid foundation that left the Tigers on the back foot.

Sangha, playing his first Shield match for South Australia since moving from New South Wales, struck 16 fours and a six in his magnificent innings. Hunt, more restrained in his approach, added nine boundaries to his tally.

This knock marked Hunt’s third century of the season and his 11th in first-class cricket, boosting his season total to 506 runs — the highest in the competition. His consistency ensures he remains in contention for a potential call-up to Australia's Test squad.

For Sangha, this innings was a remarkable comeback after suffering a bizarre biceps injury in a One-Day Cup match against New South Wales in November. He looked composed throughout his stay at the crease, eventually dismissed after mistiming a pull shot to the deep.

The duo's efforts have firmly placed South Australia in control, setting the tone for the remainder of the match.
