Deepti Sharma Rises to No. 2 in ICC ODI Bowling Rankings
Deepti Sharma’s stellar bowling performances in the first two ODIs against New Zealand in Ahmedabad have propelled her to a career-high No. 2 spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings. With a rating of 687 points, she surpasses Kate Cross and Megan Schutt, trailing only Sophie Ecclestone, who remains 83 points ahead.
Deepti's contributions continued in the final ODI, where her 3-for-39 helped India secure a 2-1 series victory, though those wickets came after the latest ICC rankings update. Across the first two ODIs, she took three wickets at an economy rate of 3.42, earning her the significant boost. Deepti also holds the No. 3 position on the T20I bowling table, behind Ecclestone and Sadia Iqbal.
Gains for New Zealand Bowlers
From the same series, Lea Tahuhu climbed three places to 12th, Amelia Kerr moved up one spot to 13th, and Sophie Devine jumped nine places to equal 30th. Despite Kerr’s injury after the first ODI, Tahuhu and Devine shone in New Zealand’s second ODI victory.
Notable Gains Among Batters
Devine’s all-round performance in the second ODI, where she scored 79 off 86 balls and took 3 for 27, pushed her to eighth among ODI batters. Amelia Kerr rose to 11th, Suzie Bates moved to joint 15th, and Maddy Green advanced to 18th. India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, whose contributions included a vital 35 in the first ODI, also made strides in the rankings.
Allrounders’ Table
Deepti Sharma and Sophie Devine climbed in the allrounders' rankings as well. Devine advanced two spots to No. 7, while Deepti moved up one place to No. 4.
The updated rankings highlight the impact of consistent performances in a closely fought India-New Zealand series, with key players making significant moves across batting, bowling, and allrounder tables.
