Anuj Rawat's blistering innings of 73* off 33 balls propelled Delhi to a 19-run win over Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarter-final in Bengaluru, helping Delhi advance to the semi-finals. Rawat, who was on 9 from 10 balls at one stage, unleashed a furious assault in the latter part of the innings. His seven boundaries and five sixes were primarily struck after the 15th over, with Delhi finishing their innings at 193/3 after being 112/3 at the 15-over mark.
Rawat’s destructive spell began with a four and six off Vineet Panwar before he pummeled Shivam Mavi for 23 runs in the 16th over, including two sixes over fine leg. He reached his half-century off just 22 balls, and wrapped up his innings with a six off Mavi.
In response, Uttar Pradesh’s chase never gained any real momentum. After a slow start with just 18 runs in the first three overs, Priyam Garg tried to take the attack to Delhi's bowlers. He lifted Simarjeet Singh for a six and a four, and followed up with another six off Shivam Mavi, but he found little support. Uttar Pradesh slumped to 51/3 after seven overs, and despite Garg's valiant fifty (54), they were never in the hunt.
The match’s most intense moment came when Ayush Badoni dismissed Nitish Rana at long-on, a tension-filled contest between the two players earlier in the match.
While Garg and Sameer Rizvi added some late fireworks, Uttar Pradesh fell short of the target, ending their chase at 174. Delhi's bowlers, led by Prince Yadav and Suyash Sharma, maintained the pressure and kept picking wickets, ensuring Delhi’s victory and their place in the semi-finals.
